5 out of 5 stars An easy to use and professional Internet security suite, Strongly Recommended.   October 7, 2008
Now there are a fair few number of security suites out there: AVG, McAffee, Norton and the like. Ive tried all of these products in the past and ive always felt really annoyed in some way on how they run on your computer. Here are my thoughts:

*AVG is a nightmare with that stupid licence activation system malarky
*Norton took an eternity to update itself a new update appeared
*McAfee slowed my browsing down to a terrible crawl.

This one is differnet however, it is very easy to set up and install, it can be used on up to 3 computers (Really generous idea) and protects your computer without all the stupid interuptions.

Top marks to Mr Kaspersky himself.

4 out of 5 stars Does the usual jobs. No better, or worse, than the others   October 6, 2008
I have used many virus and security-related computer products for about ten years now. Whilst I have been completely satisfied with ZoneAlarm and, now, Windows One Care, there is no reason to think that this offering from Kaspersky is any different.

It runs, seemingly, in the background without hogging valuble computer/processor resources, which means that you do not notice it.

It is very straight forward to train, so that it won't interfere with things that you want to happen.

Like the other products I have listed above, I can recommended it because it does the job.

1 out of 5 stars Found it difficult to install.   October 3, 2008
I have had a problem with my laptop since installing this software and have found Kaspersky's customer support unable to help.

After reading several positive reviews on Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, I bought and installed the software in my Toshiba laptop. The process itself was straightforward, but after installation I started to get the message "Can't execute CEC_Main.exe Please reinstall this program" everytime I turned on my laptop. I have since checked postings on Google and found out that some other Toshiba laptop users had encountered the same problem. I called Kaspersky tech support, and their response is that this problem has nothing to do with them. In other words, I am on my own to try out which of the potential solutions (that I have read from other users) would work. I did not really want to deal with this level of complication when all I wanted was a security software that works.

So the bottom line here: the great reviews that you have read so far are probably true, but I would seriously urge you to think twice before buying this software if --
1) you have a Toshiba laptop (you can Google discussions on this) and
2) you'd rather not spend the time rectifying an avoidable problem.

5 out of 5 stars KAspersky IS 2009   October 3, 2008
My default recommendation for PC security. However, whilst its installation and auto config mode are great for a novice, it can and does make some odd decisions or your behalf, and its not that straight forward to change it. If you are remotely IT literate, its the best in class, if you are a novice, and willing to preserve, it offers the very best and comprehensive security for things that you didn't even know you needed protecting against!

3 out of 5 stars Tried them all... but why not use free software?   October 2, 2008
I have pretty much tried all the different versions of paid-for security software over the years - McAfee, Kaspersky, Norton etc. My view is that, if working properly, this layer of software on a PC should be discrete and almost invisible to the user. Hence my bewilderment that some people pay to use this - yes, it does what it says on the box - but so do plenty of other excellent products that are free for single-user installations. As for me, I am going back to them!
