5 out of 5 stars Another Great Reason to Use Max OS X   April 25, 2006

While my decision to finally buy a PowerBook last November wasn't completely based on this application, it sure helped to push me over the edge. If you have used most of the other web design applications on the market today, Mac or Windows, then you know they are either overly simplified with little ability to make custom changes or they are increadibly complicated to use. For Mac users the situation was even more dire than for Windows users as at least Windows had FrontPage. While it isn't a perfect application it was relatively easy to use and allowed the user to do a fair amount of customization, all-be-it at the price of simplicity. I know many Mac users were either hand coding, purchased Dreamweaver or used a PC.
With the release of RapidWeaver that seemed to change and with the release of 3.2, which is when I jumped on the band wagon, it really changed. It's hard to explain how easy this application is to use and how great the results can be. It's truly an application designed for the beginner, the intermediate user and the extreamly advanced user. For beginners who have no, nadda, zippo HTML experience or CSS experience, they can have a fully functional, modern website fully utilizing CSS in under an hour, that's right a full website. That includes photo slide shows, contact forms, file sharing, a blog and much more. Don't like the look, choose a new theme, upload your site and you are done. Don't like the themes included, no problem a cottage industry has cropped up making many different themes available. If you have a working knowledge of CSS you can make changes to the themes very easily and if you are an experienced CSS writer, you can truly do pretty much anything you want and have the great advantage of having a theme for your site that you can easily apply to all new pages and if you want to make a change that's easy to. Most though won't change the themes with code, but will do so using Variations.
If you have seen what iWeb can do then you have only seen the tip of the iceberg of what RapidWeaver can do and you can build as many sites as you like and it works with FTP directly, instead of indirect support that iWeb gives you. Oh, and if you do have a .Mac site, no problem... RapidWeaver works directly with .Mac. How great is that?
Not much is known about 3.5, exept that with RealMacSoftware's track record so far, it will most liekly be another homerun.
Finally, if RapidWeaver is missing a feature or two that you do want.... keep your eyes open because several small developers have been coming out with plugins that extend the capabilities of RapidWevaer. For example, Blocks allows you a fully 100% drag and drop editing enviroment, just like iWeb. There is also a plug-in that allows you to have multiple columns and yet another that allows you to password protect sections of your website. Most of these plug-ins run less than $20 (US).
I'm sure there will be plenty more reviews that will sing the praises of RapidWeaver. Best of all the price. You can't beat the price vs functionality of this program. You don't know me from Adam, but trust me, this program is well worth your investment in time and money.

The web design tool RW is a great and realy easy to use application for your Apple. It works fine with the applications of your system, e.g. the intigration of iPhoto. This puts you into position to bring your indeas to the internet by creating nice web sites.
Furthermore, if you encounter any problems the great community of RapidWeaver with its discussion forum helps you to resolve nearly every issue.
I personally really enjoy using this program and I can recommend it without any restrictions.
