So far .... great August 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this little drive to save me taking my laptop to my Portuguese office which runs MAC computers (my laptop windows XP). If it works (I havn't been able to try it yet) I will be able to take all my relavant files via this small hard drive. To do this I have left the drive formatted as FAT32 as MAC will not write to NTFS.
The drive arrived as always from Amazon really quickly and worked straight from the box. It takes longer to write to this hard drive than my FREEAGENT (NTFS) hard drive. I'm not sure if this is because it is formatted as FAT32. Anyway if I can use it to migrate between PC and MAC environments then I can live with the slower speed. I will update this review later if it works with the MAC.
Connect & use - just the job! July 30, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have other Freecom drives but tried a Seagate FreeAgent from a Which? report that is supposed to work with my Mac, but wouldn't. Despite 2 calls to their US help-desk I discovered it wouldn't work with Mac OS 10.3.9 (no help there then) but Amazon replaced it with this Freecom which I connected to my G5 Mac & SuperDuper! then spent 70 mins copying my HD to it, about half an hour after I got it! What could be simpler than that?? My advice - don't buy anything else.

Can this little gem also hold an image of all my laptop settings as well as just my files? Does the software handle this or will I need new software?
Great External Hard Drive July 25, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I was looking for an external hard drive to start storing some of my photos (my C drive was always complaining it was full)
This is very small, easy to set up (just plug it in and it's ready to go), very quiet (it doesn't have a fan), powered by USB so only one wire (no power cable) and it looks pretty smart too!
250GB for on 60 isn't bad either!
Really like this little HDD July 13, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Needed a new external HDD to go with a recent purchase of a laptop as video files etc., can take up huge amounts of space. Had this Freecom Mobile Drive 250GB USB-2 for about 2 weeks now and so far so good. Very pleased with it in fact. Comes with some backup software which I didn't install so no comment there. However it does arrive with the FAT format file system so to get any single large file across onto it it does need a 2hr NTFS re-format. My Vista OS did that for me by pressing the right button. It does get slightly warm on the metal casing but nothing of any concern and has 4 little rubber feet to stop it sliding around. I'm certainly no expert but I have noticed that the data transfer time is in fact slower on this BUS powered drive, for big files I'm talking about, but hey for an extra 30 seconds wait time I'm not complaining. So for the cash paid out ( 59.99) this ex HDD does everything I require of it and it still fits in my shirt top pocket. Hence I would recommend it. All IMHO of coarse.
