Quality July 17, 2007
I have had the MX510 for well over 2 years now, and I can highly reccomend it for all warps of PC users. It has been a dream to use, especially for the value for money I paid for it back then. Sadly, mine has broken now, but still useable at the moment. But due to my own fault, the cord into the actual mouse has become loose(ok i may have droped it a few....dozen times ;0) ), thus breaking the connection at times.
I am now upgrading to the new blue Logitech G5 mouse. Which on Amazon is cheaper than buying it from the Logitech website I found. It is allot of money for a mouse, but I think it will be worth while.
Real Quality July 10, 2007
I've had this mouse for the best part of 2 years now and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality mouse for both general and gaming use. Ergonomically it's great, it fits my hand perfectly and I can use it for hours with out getting cramp, unlike the cheap mouse I have to suffer at work. A word of warning though, it is fairly large, so may not be so good for someone with particularly small hands. Aesthetically is looks great too, but sadly, after a few months the black on the Logitech logo tends to wear off round the edges. It happened to two friends MX510's too, so it's I know it's not a one off, however, all round the mouse is so good I'm still awarding it the full 5 stars.
For general use, the cursor action is very smooth and the two thumb buttons make it a joy to use when surfing the Internet, moving backwards and forwards between pages at a click of the thumb. It doesn't sound much, but you will soon realise how much you've come to love those thumb buttons, when you have to go back to using a standard mouse and keep moving the cursor up to the top of Internet Explorer, to click the page back and forward buttons. The cruise control buttons are also pretty useful and save your finger a lot of work on the scroll wheel, you can set the speed to your liking and simply holding the buttons down to scroll the page up or down.
When gaming, particularly when playing FPS games, the MX510 really shines, it tracks perfectly and can smoothly match even the harshest acceleration when you spin round to react to gunfire. The thumb buttons are just as much of a boon in game too, set them to sprint & crouch and leave your WASD hand free to steer your avatar without having to use your little finger to hold down CTRL or Shift, something I used to find quite awkward. Alternatively just set them to your favourite weapons, or anything else you like, once you get used to them you'll wonder how you got by with a standard mouse. Most games recognise the extra buttons and allow you to assign controls, but for those that don't, simply open up the MX510 Driver, which sits in your system tray next to the clock and you can programme any of the buttons to reproduce the action of any keyboard key.
At the time of writing the price of the MX510 is half that of the newer MX518 or G5, but I don't find either of those mice to be noticeable better than the MX510. The MX510 is definitely the shrewd buyers choice, a superb mouse for not a lot of money.

Absolutely cracking piece of kit.the best mouse ive ever owned.
Bought an old logitech cordless ages ago & it was a good piece of kit but the charger broke.cost me around £30 at the time & I vowed never to buy an expensive mouse again.after 5 or 6 cheap mice over the last 2 years i thought id try paying a bit more & well glad i did. the response on fps games is incredible,also came with a steelpad mousepad which are between £10 & £15 alone so its an absolute steal. recommended 5*

Simply the best mouse money can buy!!!! I brought it 6 months ago after using a Microsoft Explorer mouse for 2 years, I thought that was good but this is a million times better. I use it for about 6 hours a day with CAD software and other drawing packages, the programmable buttons are unbeatable for that alone. After work I clock up at least 2 hours a night playing FPS games and again I just can't fault it. Microsoft could certainly learn a lot by looking at this mouse. If you can't get hold of this one try the model up MX518 both mice have won a ton of awards from both gaming and more serious computer magazines. "BUY THIS MOUSE, YOU ARE DEFINITELY MISSING OUT UNTIL YOU GET ONE!!".

For years I have bean a staunch defender of the ball mouse, mainly as I had yet to find an optical mouse that was responsive or that didn't jerk about the screen during the simplest of manouevres.Then someone told me about this mouse. What can I say? Easy to install, smooth, responsive, plenty of buttons (although I have found that only 6 of the 8 buttons can be mapped to games). This mouse is superb. The only downside is after using a ball mouse for so long, it's taking a while to adjust to the lighting response time. Recommended.
