Product Description This AUGUST USB Freeview HDTV Receiver is a "magic wand" as it can turn your laptop or desktop computer to a high definition personal multimedia centre that allows you to watch over 30 free digital channels, listen to over 20 digital radio stations, record your favourite TV programmes on your hard drive or burn it onto a DVD.It comes with a professional and user friendly software interface, mini antenna and remote control. All you need to do is to plug the device into a USB port of your computer, insert the CD and install the software by following the instructions. Your computer will start working immediately for you as a portable TV and recorder. You can watch TV programmes live or record onto your hard drive to watch later. An indoor antenna is provided to watch Freeview in the areas where the signal is strong, an amplified antenna may improve reception and a rooftop aerial should be used in some regions. An aerial adaptor is also provided for you to connect this device to your roof top aerial. Please note that there may be difficulty to receive freeview TV signal by the included portable antenna in some areas where the signal is not sufficiently strong. This is due to that the freeview service (www.freeview.co.uk) in the UK does not fully support portable TV antenna at present. The reception will be improving along with the progress of Digital Switchover Program(http://www.digitaltelevision.gov.uk). A signal amplifier or booster may improve reception capability in regions where the signal is marginally strong. (please note that reception capability may also be affected by various factors such as proximity to freeview TV/digital radio transmitters, tall building structures, thick walls, ceilings and etc.). A rooftop TV aerial may be required to watch freeview channels in regions where the signal is insufficient for a portable antenna.

Awesome bit of kit August 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this as I wanted to watch the Olympics whilst away camping in my camper. We toured many places and only 1 place didnt have a reception. Pulled into Bude found 48 channels including BBC1 and its interactive channels for the Olympics. Found a random farmers field on top of a hill near Boscastle, still had signal. Polzeath didn't get anything :( Crantock was fine as well. Then went in land to Stythian near Falmouth and found 107 channels!! Unfortunatly at home in Farnborough nothing :( going to have to find the tv cable in the loft from the aerial. I would of given 5 stars as really it is an awesome little bit of kit, very easy to install (after I had to email August to get another serial number as it didnt like the one that came on the cd) and very easy to use. But you dont get signal everywhere and unless you attach the aerial to something metal (ie: campervan Roof). Obviously the digital reception is up to the people that control it and as soon as digital is everywhere there is not alot you can do.
magic freeview device August 19, 2008 I got this as a birthday present from my parent. It is really a little magic device. I can now watch full suite of Freeview TV channels in perfect quality on my new laptop. It can be scheduled to record your favourite program at a particular time in case you are not in. Additionally, it also supports DVD playback. The small portable antenna provided doesn't work very well, but no problem with my roof aerial. Overall, I am very pleased and look forward to spending a lot of time with it.
Dreadful! June 14, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Even though in the area i live there is a strong signal, the aerial received nothing at all so i had to plug it into a tv socket and after many times of scanning the channels i still got nothing!i tried it on other systems in the house and the problem was still the same!very bad product!and worse customer service!
Nightmare! May 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Like others I've read here (unfortunatley after purchase) Mine is not receiving any signal atall.. I live in white city, minutes away from the BBC. No L.E.D on the USB, my Sony Vaio running vista recognizes the USB but nothing.. I've re-installed, the drivers are apparently working, the stick is getting hot but no cigar.. I'm really pi**ed off to have wasted my time and money on this utter tosh...
Poor, poor April 25, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Flimsy piece of kit. Lasted one day and the USB connector into the aerial buckled and broke. It will be going back! Additionally the supplied aerial is dreadful...and I live in a good signal area. A duffer...dont bother.
