Product Description
The inMotion IM4, a tiny, portable, battery-operated stereo system lets you share sounds at home, at the beach, on the go...where ever. A highly efficient Class D amplifier powers four full-range micro drivers to deliver a full spectrum of pure, distinct sound, while the revolutionary MaxxBass technology allows listeners to enjoy deep bass without lugging around a subwoofer. The inMotion IM4 also includes a rubberized base and provides a non-slip platform for your MP3 or CD players and dual inputs allows the connection of two audio players at the same time. The inMotion IM4 is the ideal solution to let you listen to your favourite music whenever and wherever you want with great sound.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent travel speakers   September 8, 2007

I have been searching for portable speakers for a while, if you are looking for something taht is:-
a) Portable
b) Battery powered (with mains option)
c) Not limited to iPod's only (3.5mm jack input)
d) quality sound
Then the iM4 is perfect. The JBL on tour was a close second an is probably slightly louder but the iM4 wins on sound quality and the MaxxBass technology is impressive. For holidays, hotel rooms and on the balcany with a beer it's the perfect choice.

5 out of 5 stars Very Strongly Recommended!   August 29, 2007

I'm thrilled by these speakers which have owned now for over six months. They are great to travel with (and fold flat to approximately the size of a tall paperback book) but I'm so attached to them I use them at home too.The sound quality is uncoloured, and the lower frequencies amazingly present and warm for such a small unit. I was so impressed that I looked up "Maxx Bass" technology on the net - I've always imagined such things to be just a crude boost to low frequencies but this is something much cleverer and aesthetically vastly more impressive: the overall impression of the sound is very natural. There is as much volume available as anyone could reasonably expect from a unit of this size. Connection is via a choice of the internally retractable 3.5mm lead or via a second 3.5mm line-in socket (3.5mm is the standard Walkman / iPod headphone connector size). I use the internal lead to connect to the headphone output of my Creative Zen Vision:M and get the best sound, to my delight, with the player EQ off. If you turn the player to absolutely maximum volume it distorts the input, and line level signals do the same, but up to about 90% headphone output level sounds gorgeous.A set of four of my own AA NiMH rechargeable batteries will run this unit for hours (likely due to the unusual and efficient 'Class D' amplifier design), and the included mains adaptor is very lightweight to travel with.Any system such as this suffers from technical limitations: it can't possibly offer the power, frequency response or freedom from distortion of a hi-fi system. However this system offers by far the best subjective experience of any comparable lightweight portable system I've come across (I auditioned a bunch of them before buying). I'm getting used to amazed reactions from friends as to how great these little speakers sound. Want to amaze YOUR friends? These are worth a try...

5 out of 5 stars Helps when drowning a void of silence   August 6, 2007

I was pleasantly suprised by these speakers - a careful choice after reading many a review, and I'm happy with my purchase. I bought mine for going on holiday

If you're looking to go away with your mates and rock a party then you'll be looking for something meater - this type of equipment can't match a decent portable or mini stereo. However, if you want something for the hotel room but have one eye on not upsetting the neighbours these are great.

I dj, produce music and have a much paid for collection, so I don't suffer bad stereos gladly. I mainly listen to listen to hip-hop, soul, funk, reggae and dance music. The bass is certainly there, though rather than being full and thick it's more punchy in the bass drum range. The lower mid range is served well though so a feeling of bass across the track is definitely apparent. Upwards from there it's as expected - vocals sound as they should and the upper mid/tops don't grate.

For two people sat on a balcony drinking beer and soaking up the sun the volume is enough for a party. In a room it fills it as much as you'd want before you couldn't hear the witty conversation, though would still be more than just background sounds.

It's thin, it's light, it will fit in my suitcase a treat. Inclusion of travel adaptors is a plus, the retractable cord works well and I got the un-advertised second 3.5mm cable bundled in the pack for connecting to the second input (which is great for me and my girl's mp3 players - we have very different tastes and can now easily take a track each without switching players..).

Remember what this is - an easy amp/speaker setup to get you out of a hole when you're miles away from your beloved stereo. For that, it put the smile back on my face.

5 out of 5 stars Hi Fi quality but portable   December 29, 2006

I brought these for my niece for Christmas after reading the reviews on here, they are really great, and you would not believe they are portable speakers, we were all amazed at the sound coming from them, Hi Fi quality but portable. You can plug anything that has a headphone socket into these even your old portable TV. So 10 out of 10, from me, and my niece. She's been playing her new MP4 on them all Christmas...LOUDLY MMMmmm so perhaps not so 10 out of 10 after all

5 out of 5 stars Staggering quality for the price!   October 25, 2006

I was blown away on hearing these. I bought them after reading a good review on them in a magazine, but was utterly staggered at just how good they are. I've got them connected up to my ipod and the sound is surprisingly loud, clear and rich. Ok the mid-range is little lacking and the sound can distort a bit if you've got your ipod turned up to full volume (best to have the ipod volume on a mid-level and turn the unit right up), but for the price and size I'm amazed at what they can do. Worth every penny and then some.
