5 out of 5 stars Satisfying puzzle, interesting toy   February 15, 2008

If you want a Dr Who themed toy for a slightly older child, this is good.

The plastic pieces fit together with a satisfying click, then stay in place as you build the sphere. Our 10-yr-old is having a lovely time with it, and it's challenging his 3D visualisation skills. He thinks that it's too hard for the 6 year-olds as advertised; I agree it needs bigger hands and stronger fingers than a 6-yr-old's. The average parent would manage it just fine.

My favourite thing is that they can't of course show the finished entire picture on top of the box for you to copy, so they give you a sort of rack-and-pinion with the pics printed on, and you roll the discs along the rack to see one part of the picture at a time. Try explaining that without a diagram!
