It does not work April 8, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
After running the calibration many times, re-installing and searching through the companies FAQ I have to report this product does not work. I get a very strong red cast on the screen after calibration. This is a problem many others have had with this product. Beware!!
Grey to Green: Colour looked better before calibration March 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Nice idea, did not work for me in pratice. Now my ViewSonic LCD has an obvious green cast, grey is NOT grey, it's green - colours on my laptop screen are not bad, a bit warm and the two do not match. In fact if you look on the Pantone website they say that this product is not designed for matching monitors, this is an advanced feature....blah..blah..blah, what nonsense. If it's calibrating colours different on each screen, what kind of calibration is this exactly?
Running Vista 32bit with a ViewSonic VP2030b hooked up to my Rock 17" laptop as extended desktop.
Very disappointed to be honest, an ineffective overpriced ($95 in US??? less than half the UK price) tool that does not do what it says on the tin. Adjusting monitor settings by eye gives me MUCH better results.
I have checked that I don't have any other profiles active and been through Pantone's faq, but no luck.
Seems others have been more successful and you might get lucky, but you've been warned.
It is fantastic February 28, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have got to agree with every body els on this calibration kit. It really does show all the proper colours once you have installed it on your pc. dont wait and buy one of the expensive ones this does alot beter job and its not expensive.
Caused my monitor to develop a pink colour cast.... February 25, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was persuaded of the need for this, ordered & installed my copy, & would give it top marks for ease of use.
I wondered if I was being dim, though, & had done something wrong when the monitor looked far worse after calibration than before, with a pink colouration very noticeable at the top left hand side of the monitor.
I ran through all the help files, re-installed it 4 or 5 times, with the same results, then Googled hueypro problems. There's a known issue, with 'isolated units' faulty. I've submitted my request for a replacement, but for the moment I don't have a working version of this software so can't yet comment on how it makes my colours sing.
I hope to update this with a more positive later, as I really want this to work brilliantly!
Essential for any Photo work November 10, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I can't really add much to what the other reviewers have written, except to say that if you've spent more than 200 on a monitor, and do any photographic manipulation, you really should buy one of these.
I thought my new display (a leading-brand 23" widescreen) was already pretty good, but I had 100 spare from my monitor budget, and tried one of these, thinking I could always send it back if it didn't do much. Within ten minutes of plugging in in I was sold. Black is actually black, and mid-tones are clear and accurate. White is brilliant white without searing my retinas.
Bad points - the help files are not brilliant, but it's so self-explanatory you don't really need them. The suckers on the unit are very weak, to be safe on fragile TFTs, but are so weak it fell off twice during the calibration procedure.
None of these would put me off - this is an essential bit of kit - and probably has more impact on the quality of your work than a few more megapixels, a new lens or a fancier flash-gun.
