Go to a computer store and buy a PC, then try and decide which Vista you are (if you have a choice), get it home and start to download all the software you actually need for it, an Internet Browser (either Firefox, Opera or even Safari just not IE7, maybe IE8 when that comes out soon though), a proper Firewall, better Media software, Security Updates on top of Security Updates, Office (so long as you pick the right version! and I'm talking Office here not rubbish Works) and then realise, "I wish I had got the better version of Vista, maybe that would have all the software I need".....tip: it won't
Or,
Go to a computer store and buy a Mac, get it home and just start to use it, because it just works. Granted you may have to buy iWork, but I think iWork costs about a 7th of the price of Office.
I'm giving it 2 and not 3 stars because it has improved some features XP had but it also hasn't given us enough of the tools we actually need a computer for. And Im not giving it 4 or 5 stars because it simply is not worth a faction of the money it is on sale for.

Thomas!!! you are clearly a windows hater and are too biased. People, please don't decide based on what thomas edwards has written. Service Pack 1 has definitely improved vista.

If your PC if good enough to run this, get it! Well worth the money. You can use the DVD again to upgrade other PC's and use your credit card to activate them online.
The features such as areo are amazing, they make the whole os look so beautiful!
