Extremely frustrating April 2, 2008 3 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought this yesterday and taking it back today! Having looked at this game I thought it could be a really good buy, but after a few hours of failed attempts I ended up very frustrated. The controls are virtually impossible and the instructions aren't very useful. Very disappointed after owning previous mario and sonic games.
It's Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! April 1, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This game really does bring the wii to life, its like no other game i have played before, forget the gym ive had the game now for about 2 days and i have played on it so much my arms are aching, the athletic games really do work you and does really work up a sweat, a clever thing that the makers have put into this game is loads of information about the 2008 beijing olympic games, the fun thing about this is to unlock this information you need to play some fun short games, one of my mates recommeded this game to me and now i can clearly see why, i would recommend this game to anyone well done nintendo 10/10
Fantastic entertainment March 28, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Recently purchased this game for my son and found it absolutely great fun - even got addicted myself!! Have played a few wii games and can definitely recommend this one for most ages. Agree controls may be a bit tricky for those of a really young age, but good fun for the whole family. I particularly like the swimming!!
Sonic & Mario at the Olympics is a strong contender March 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I enjoyed Sonic & Mario at the Olympics but agree the control system can be fiddly and complicated at times, especially for younger players. Aside from this its a pretty solid game with lots of events and if you enjoyed Wii Sports this will be right up your street. I particularly enjoyed the circuit mode where you have to come 1st overall in a series of events to unlock the next circuit and it also unlocks new events. I found after a few plays I managed to unlock all the circuits and all the events so the game soon lost its appeal but i suppose if your the sort of person that likes to beat the CPU at everything and get all the world records theres a few weeks play in this title and its definately enhanced by playing with friends although there is no online play. As others have said, the ability to import your own Mii is another nice touch (amazing how many Wii games don't let you do this) and it even uploads your results to the network which is nice. ..and for anyone wondering here are all the events including the unlockable ones: 100m sprint, 100m hurdles, 400m sprint, 4x100m relay, 400m hurdles, fencing, long jump, javelin, high jump, pole vault, shot putt, skeet, archery, trampoline, vault, 100m freestyle swimming, 4x100m freestyle, table tennis, rowing and 4 dream events (dream race, table tennis, fencing & platform).
Not for lefties! March 27, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
Despite importing our left-handed Miis from the console, all the games are resolutely right-handed. OK for some, but table tennis, javelin, fencing and a few others seem counter-intuitive, and don't respond so well.
My missus is actually pretty good at table tennis (in real life!), but couldn't get to grips at all with controlling the right-handed player on screen...
