5 out of 5 stars Super Quality   August 27, 2008
My Creative Zen M Vision is started to crackle a little and the screen is coming aaway slightly.......after 4 and half years. I'ev dropped this thing on a marble floor, concrete etc and sure its chipped a bit but its kept going!! At one point it had a rattle. I followed online instructions, took it apart, put a screw bk in and did it up again. Even after i did that (i took everything apart) it worked fine. only know is the headpghone jack worn a little and thus crackling. but after 4 n half years im not suprised. I dont really get why this now costs 60 more than it did so long ago but hey.

Its not AS smooth to use as an ipod but it will sure as hell last a lot longer and do everything u need.

1 out of 5 stars Wholeheartedly Dissapointed   August 21, 2008

I received the ZEN Vision M as a gift and was impressed with the way it looked, and also pleased I wasn't following the apple bandwagon. The player stopped working soon after I started using it, and I mean completely stopped, no signs of life at all. Ok I may have been unlucky, however BEWARE of their customer (holding back laughter) service. I have been left on hold to a foreign call centre for 22 minutes, a further 15 minutes, and to beat that 35 minutes. They said they would email and haven't. Nothing has been resolved.

This is the first time I have ever commented on any product, I'm usually quite laid back and don't expect things to last that long. I hope this review makes you think twice about how wonderful creative is. I thought I was staying away from the mainstream apple, and hate to admit felt quite cool with a creative rather than apple on the train. Its not until you have to contact customer services that you realise they are terrible. I wish someone had warned me, so I hope I help someone else avoid this pseudo cool company.

1 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY   August 4, 2008

Whatever you do, please do not buy this product. Initially I loved this product and ridiculed my friends for being sheep and buying I-Pods. However, my friends have had the last laugh.

I have had the Zen for 16 months. It cost 150. During this time it has generally been great. However, last week the player completely froze and entered 'recovery mode'. Despite several attempts to make the Zen work, it will no longer start up and there is a hardware problem.

I have seen on many interent forums that this is a common problem. I have contacted Creative and they are next to useless. As the 12 month warranty has expired, apparently I have two options - return it to Creative for repair at a cost of 90.95 plus Postage and Packaging or buy a new Creative product from them with a 20% discount they will give me. What a derisory offer.

Honestly, DO NOT BUY this product. It looks good, it WAS good, it is now useless. Unfortunately I also bought the Zen Accessory Pack at 30 and also the Z500 speaker dock for 120, which are both now redundant as the Zen will not work.

I'm sorry to say, I'm off to become a sheep and buy an I-Pod. I hope this review saves others from the troubles I have encountered.

5 out of 5 stars Great Player   July 17, 2008
The Zen Vision:M entered the market pitted against Apple's enormously popular iPod. I initially opted for the Vision:M as it was slightly cheaper for the same capacity and I didn't want to become dependant on Apple's iTunes software. It was one of the better decisions of my life.

The Zen Vision:M excels at everything it does. It's 2.5" screen displays videos in vibrant and immersive colour while album art is also displayed next to the songs that is playing, something which, while simple, makes the whole experience seem somehow better. A variety of themes is also available allowing you to change the colour scheme and background to your choice.

The best part of the Vision:M however is not the display. It is the sound. This simply defies belief. You get rich, deep bass and clear, crisp highs even using the headphones out of the box (which I am still using a year and a half on). The Zen supports high quality and even lossless audio to make the experience even better. It also has a range of different equaliser settings allowing you to change dynamics depending on what type of music you are listening to. One small criticism is that the Vision:M does not support gapless playback.

The interface is very easy to get used to and can be customised to remove options you don't use frequently. One of the buttons can also be set as a shortcut button to skip to your most frequently used feature. The buttons are intuitively laid out and the whole thing has a solid feel to it. My main criticism is that Creative have used a plastic material for the screen and this scratches very easily. Screen protectors can be bought though (the Vision:M comes with one already attached) which will remedy this problem though.

The Vision:M is slightly thicker than the iPod and a tad heavier but looks beautiful and works even better. It can be used to store and display photos and videos and it has an inbuilt radio which is very clear. The Vision:M runs for a very long time off a single charge: up to 14 hours if it is just playing music. The player supports high-speed USB which means your entire music library can be transferred in a very short time.

Overall the Zen Vision:M is a brilliant mp3 player. It's battery life outstrips that of it's competitors and audio quality is excellent. Coming down in price but still one of the best players on the market today.

1 out of 5 stars Don,t buy from Creative !!!!!!!!!!!   June 12, 2008

Like some kind of crazy fool I thought I,d buy 2 zen vision players (1 for whole albums, 1 for favourite tracks ) .They where so impressive at first I bought a z500 playdock too . However within 14 months both where what can best be described as useless. As useless as trying to get them fixed via the company and their equally abject website. The best fun you,ll have with these is when you hurl them at a wall . (honest !!!! ).

Thinks:Now what are people saying about Ipods .??
