Works Fine ...with an outside aerial May 19, 2008 I have bought two of these, one for my daughter's laptop in her bedroom and one for myself - I work away a lot. It works fine provided you use an external TV aerial, the tiny one provided in the box is a waste of time. On initial scanning, it picks up most if not all of the freeview digital channels with a high quality picture. Makes a TV set redundant - amazing for the money, so I have given it 5 stars.
Brilliant stuff May 16, 2008 I bought this stuff 3 days back and it took me 5 minutes to install. Got 50 channels (20 tv and rest radio) may be i will get more if I use the roof top antenna.
Remote has a good range.
Only down side is that it has creaking plastic body and it heats up after 4,5 hours. So may have short life.
But hey it is value for money for its price.
Note I live near island garden which is near to a freeview transmitter.
Dont get conned. May 13, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I accidentally stepped on my last usb tv adapter, which would play ALL freeview channels. I buy this as a replacement, and I am lucky if it will pick up 4 channels. It is connected to my outdoor ariel so I know I can recieve all freeview channels, but this bit of plastic simply isnt up to the job.
The software supplied is a joke too, and as for someone saying it will work with Mediaportal is wrong, mediaportal doesnt even recognise the device is attached to your computer.

Don't be stupid like me. Do NOT buy this assuming you will obtain a clear digital signal regardless of your location. Digital coverage in your area is a must for this item to work, as i found out!
what more could you wish for thats a tenner May 10, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Just happened to come across this on amazon, and thought what the heck the sun has come out I could watch telly in the garden. The package arrived promptly and took literally 5 minutes to set up. I use it on a dell laptop with win xp sp2. No problems with the setup. The picture is sharp and clear. The sotware is simple to use and the remote control is ok, but you have to use it near the usb stick. Even though I live in a good freeview area, using it in the garden I have noticed that if its a bit windy the picture frame rate can freeze for a sec or 2.
The autoscan is great it picks up all the freeview channels tv and radio and you can delete channels and save your own channel lineup.
I set up my favourites in the settings panel, which you then access by right clicking on your mouse.
The ariel is ok, but you can connect it to a normal TV ariel and this helps with the signal, but I tried another reviewers suggestion using a aluminum baking tray and it seems to boost the output of the supplied ariel. Good tip.
The only letdown is that the EPG doesnt seem to work on any channel, so you will have to have a tv guide handy -
I connect the usb adapter to a usb extension lead to stop it getting too hot, which some reviewers said happened.
I cannot get it too work with windows media player - I dont have xp media edition but it would be nice to try it out with more sophisticated software. I have not been able to find any other software it could work with as yet.
All in all its a good product and I cannot still believe its literally only a tenner. I will be buying a couple more of these for the family.
