5 out of 5 stars 5 stars for the product and 5 stars for their tech support.   May 30, 2008

I purchased one of these 8GB Databars in January and the same happened to me recently. The stick only showed 8MB available (very disappointing). I called the Freecom support line, who immediately diagnosed that the problem was due to me disconnecting the stick from my PC with the software still running, (silly me, the manual tells me to close the Carry it Easy software before disconnecting). They gave me a fix and hey presto I am back to my 8GB stick. It is a shame the software is only a 30-day trial but I wont be using it anymore, the DataBar is perfect on its own. Perfect size, perfect price and perfect capacity.
5 stars for the product and 5 stars for their tech support.

1 out of 5 stars DO NOT PURCHASE   May 28, 2008

Extremely annoyed! I read the reviews and was extremely careful whilst following the instructions. I entered a password for the private data, aware this would encript part of the drive. I exited the program and formally ejected the drive from windows. On re-inserting the drive it was unreadable with the only option to format. This I did reluctantly, after several more plug-in/ejection attempts. Resulting in the drive becoming 8MB and effectively useless.

I bought this at christmas, and I though, wow, it's so small and convenient, little did I know what awaited me. I was saving a file onto it a week or so after I'd got it, and suddenly, a warning, corrupted file sign came up on the screen. I was so annoyed! I lost all my files (which were luckily backed-up) and now, every time I use the memory stick, it doesn't get recognised. Initially, I thought it was just a fault with my memory stick, but the exact same happened with my 2nd and 3rd memory sticks, and with my dads. Overall, I cant say that I recommend it, but maybe it's just me!

I just bought this USB pen drive a couple of days ago and it is definitely worth more than the price I paid. The device has a quiality finish and works perfectly. Just to verify the capacity of the pen drive I loaded over 7 GB worth of music, videos and documents and I had no problems what so ever. Well recomended!!!
