Just to let you know, the batteries that are required (packet says AG13) are actually more commonly known as LR44 - readily available everywhere. Hope that helps.
Batterys for screwdriver. December 13, 2005 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I bought this item for my two sons and had a lot of trouble finding the batterys for it. I searched high and low at most high street shops but to no avail, but do not despair my fellow timelords for you can purchase them from 99p stores and poundland, you get about 8 in a big pack of small round batterys for a quid. Hope this helps a lot of future timelords.
(Big) Boys' Toys December 6, 2005 9 out of 20 found this review helpful
I bought this for my son's birthday three weeks ago and still haven't got it working. Apart from the fact that none of the shops in my locale had ever heard of AG13 batteries (whatever were they doing packaging a toy without batteries? especially ones that aren't readily available) but now I have taken the degree to insert them it still doesn't seem to be working. I think it is a complete waste of money (agree with the plastic comments), a huge disappointment. If you're a single mother, please DON'T buy this as it will just serve to remind you of what men are good for - wasting time, fiddling around for hours trying to get pathetic boys' toys to work. As you can tell, I didn't rate it. And despite the Amazon pre-programmed description, I'm far from a toy enthusiast
For Dr Who addicts only December 5, 2005 7 out of 12 found this review helpful
This is a tacky piece of plastic. The one I bought didn't work until I inserted some tin foil in one of the battery holders. BTW, it takes 3 quite expensive little power cells. When it does work, it produces a small deep blue light and, um, not really much else. Fun for 2 minutes, maybe 5 minutes for children with a good imagination. If your child would happily use a pencil or stick to play Dr.Who, this will be a distinct improvement.
If you're reversing the polarity of the neutron flow... November 5, 2005 24 out of 29 found this review helpful
How come it took them 30 years to market this? Anyway, now it's here, and if you can find something that's as much fun for a tenner I'll take three. I assume most of these will go to 34-year-old men (handy; their understanding wives will help put the slightly-fiddly batteries in the slightly-fiddly mechanism) and that's good because one imagines this item, though well-made and very like the telly one, could get knocked about by the smallest children if asked to perform too robustly. That said, I've used it to explode marsh gas, detonate land mines, reverse a teleport device and destroy the office computer. Gents, if you don't get one for Christmas there's a chance they don't love you...
