4 out of 5 stars Old fashioned fun   June 16, 2007

If you've ever played Frustration, you'll know how this game works. Players take one of four characters (The Doctor, Martha, Captain Jack or K-9) and have to get their team of three around the board and home first. Sounds very simple... until you meet the Dalek. In a twist from the old board game style, each player takes it in turns to move the Dalek as well as their own pieces. If the Dalek goes over your piece, it's exterminated and has to go back to the beginning. My five year old and three year old have been playing it all day!

The board itself is made from sturdy plastic, and the bases of the pieces slot into it as you move round. The character pieces are made from stiff card slotted into the base. The card is thick and seems reasonably durable, but I imagine that over time they will become quite worn. The good news is that the game has a spare card for each character in case of mishaps. The Dalek is cute and quite tough, but will suffer the smae eyestalk/gun/sucker snapping off problem that all Dalek toys seem to succumb to eventually with small children around.

The main thing though is that the game is fun! Simple to learn and with few tactics, it still gets your heart beating when you decide to take the short cut, only for the Dalek to get a 6 and come hareing after you. Highly recommended!
